Finding Our Life's Purpose

June 7th 2007 05:36
Hello Everybody,

I wanted to write a little about finding our life's purpose. Unless we figure out what we were put on this earth to do, we can never be truly happy or successful. We all have a gift or what Jack Canfield calls a "core genius." This is the thing that we do better than anybody else and that gives us such joy that we would do it for free. Now the idea is to find this gift that we have that gives us such pleasure that we would do it even if we did not get paid for it.

Often times, we have buried this deep down inside of ourselves somewhere and we have not been in touch with this part of ourselves for sometime. Many times, it is the child part of us that holds this gift, and we may have even been told by some authority figure when we were very young that our gift was not worthy.

The way to find our life's purpose or that which gives us the most pleasure is our own personal Global Positioning System. Like a navigational system on your car, we humans have the most powerful GPS system in the world. It's called our FEELINGS. We often don't think about this and don't give it much attention, but our feelings are giving us signals all day long to our environment around us. We often get early warning signals on many things, but do we listen to them? Now that's the trick eh?

Our feelings tell us if we are "ON COURSE" or "OFF COURSE". When something feels good and gives us much joy, we can be sure that it is something we enjoy doing. If something feels bad, then we usually don't want to continue. I know this sounds painfully obvious, but you would be surprised how many people don't pay attention to what FEELS GOOD.

Now make a list of all the joyous times in your life and see if you can find a common thread to those experiences. The idea being that if we can find the things that bring us joy and can figure out a way to make a living doing what we love we are going to feel successful no matter what we are getting paid. If we can do it well enough, we can often become successful at it enough to earn a good living. And even if we don't decide to make any major changes in our lives, if we can do more of the things that bring us joy and less of the things that make us feel bad, we will be much more alive and enegetic regardless.

In Peace and Love,

George
