Purse handles

June 12th 2009 19:22
I got some purse handles at the craft store the other day. They were on sale. They are clear plastic ones.

So, I found a little cute hand bag that I had got at the dollar tree (for a little craft tote) and I cut the existing handles off.
I left about 2 inches on each strap (there were 4) and just hand sewed my new handles on with that.

Its so much cuter now, and the handles I added on are so much stronger.

So, I semi-made an original little craft tote for under 5 dollars.

I know artists can never find enough bags and totes to carry all of their supplies so, here is an idea for a somewhat original tote idea.

Now, I don't knit, but it would make an excellent tiny tote for someone who has to sit in the waiting room somewhere. For smaller projects, like hats or whatever.

I'm using it for my sketching supplies, like pads, pencils, and colored pencils.
I also carry my camera, media cards, and converter in there so if I need prints I can just pop in any store and order what I need.

I'm so excited about this because I'm really tired of buying totes and things for my supplies, and I have so many hobbies and I'm constantly needing carry alls. And its getting expensive.

I'd much rather spend the extra money I save on making these on more hobby supplies.

Natural curl enhancer

June 12th 2009 02:53
I learned a lot of stuff over at the longhaircommunity about natural hair products.

Well after lots of research, I made my own hair serum.

All of these products are easy to find so google your favorite store for them.

1 part glycerin
1 part 100% aloe Vera gel
And about 4 parts water.
Add to a spray bottle and shake very well.

After you wash hair while its still wet, spray all over hair and plop for an hour or 2.
I plop my hair with a bandana. It keeps curls and waves tight and when you take it off, its truely amazing.

I wish I could knew how to add a link but its www.longhaircommunity.com

Burda

June 11th 2009 02:00
I just found a pattern at Jo Ann's today.
It is so inspiring! I've never sewn my own clothes but this definatly is something I would like to do.
Maybe I can make and sell my own patterns some day. That would be so awesome!
This dress I found is so beautiful. I absolutely fell in love when I saw it. Its a Burda.
I want to make one for me and also a toddler sized one for my little girl. Not matching but maybe similar colors so we could maybe take some pictures together, and not look tacky in matching outfits.

Anyways its crazy! Because it looks like a very simple dress to make.
I love to be inspired in everything I come across.

The world really kinda sucks, and I feel like my art is like another world, where only beautiful things exist.
When my imagination gets triggered I feel like my mind goes on a vacation from everything horribly wrong in the world today.
Sometimes just watching the news makes me so sick, and breaks my heart, and tears at my soul.
I would love to do something great someday, when I have the money and power to really make a difference in the world. I've been thinking of trying to start a non profit orginazation for children. (once my life is in order) Kinda like a free weekend recreation center for kids, where they can come be around other kids and do arts and crafts, and get involved with the community, too.
Maybe it would inspire kids to do something great for others, too, when they grow up.
Oh well, enough rambling for me.

My top 10 money saving tips

June 10th 2009 04:45
1.) Sew
How many times do you buy jeans or pants that are too long and need hemmed. At 8 dollars per alteration, that can really add up. (Especially if you have a large family, or if you're a shorty like me.)
Spending 40 bucks on a sewing machine, and practicing a little would save a load of unnecessary dollars for paying someone else. It all adds up in the long run
